Post-Doctoral Recruitment in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Overview

Bringing the best international post-doctoral trainees to Penn is an important component in maintaining the high quality of research here, as well as enriching the already diverse international academic community here. For this reason, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has initiated a program to facilitate recruitment of foreign post-doctoral researchers.

Experience has shown that many potential post-doctoral applicants are unaware of the depth and breadth of talent at the University of Pennsylvania. At the same time, faculty frequently receive applications from individuals at institutions that are not well known to them. The goal of this program is to provide ready access to Penn faculty for post-doctoral applicants, as well as to identify local experts both at Penn and abroad who can evaluate applicants. The program also hopes to establish ongoing direct contact with several foreign institutions to facilitate a two-way exchange of post-doctoral researchers.

Highlights:

Benefiting from this increased and newly formalized access to Penn, applicants may consider the following attributes of this prestigious university and its premiere University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS), the largest in Philadelphia:
  • The University of Pennsylvania is a member of the Ivy League, together with Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton and Yale
  • Exceptional training possibilities in a city globally respected for excellence in medicine and science
  • A superb, extensive, and collaborative research environment
  • Strong mentoring and collegiality throughout both Penn’s campus and its health system
  • Philadelphia and its environs is a terrific place to work and live, combining big city amenities, outdoor activities including easy access to the ocean and mountains, very affordable housing, great schools, and much more.
