Path BioResource – Overview

Resource laboratories, formerly called core facilities, have moved beyond the simple provision of technical services at the University of Pennsylvania. They now routinely make complex experiments possible both by providing scientific and technological support for advanced problem-based experimentation, and by creating a mechanism for the acquisition of new methodologies.

To meet this challenge, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine created Path BioResource (PBR) to enhance the activities of departmental-based resource laboratories by providing an infrastructure for development of academic programs and an expansion of web-based training systems, complemented by compliance consistency and maximized external funding efforts.

Individual PBR researchers are urged to credit in publications all resource labs where experiments were performed by name (e.g., Biomedical Imaging Facility/University of Pennsylvania).

The administrative office of PBR is located within the Department of Pathology business offices in John Morgan Building M163.
