The Biomedical Imaging Core Laboratory (BMI)

The Biomedical Imaging Core Laboratory (BMI) provides the most modern cellular and subcellular morphological analytical services at reasonable cost. It does so for investigators requiring such information in their studies, but lacking the resources to acquire it or the knowledge to interpret its results. Generally, critical morphological information of this type would be unavailable to investigators who do not have expensive microscopy laboratories, or who may be unwilling to pay the substantially higher fees of a commercial laboratory. Secondly, of equal importance, the Core provides training in morphological techniques for investigators and members of their research staffs who want to integrate these studies into their repertoire. The Core offers a variety of electron microscopy services, confocal laser scanning microscopy, multiphoton imaging, CCD or film-based epifluorescence imaging, and a complete array of computerized morphological-data analysis services.
