HEALTH SYSTEM PHYSICIAN- Penn Presbyterian Medical Center
The Department of Pathology at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) has one opening for an AP/CP pathologist with outstanding skills in Surgical Pathology, along with skills in Laboratory Medicine, to begin in 2008 or early 2009.
PPMC is a 320-bed teaching and referral hospital with an interesting mix in gastrointestinal and thoracic material. A new LIS system is being installed in 2008. PPMC is part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS), and the successful candidate will have an academic appointment in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School and teaching may be integrated in your duties. The successful candidate will also cover regularly (25%) the AP/CP service at Phoenixville Hospital, the pathology service of which is covered by UPHS pathologists.
Board certified in Anatomic and clinical pathology. Candidates with fellowship or subspecialty training exceeding three years of experience are preferred.

RESEARCH FACULTY - Viral vector based gene therapy and genetic vaccine research
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the
University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine seeks candidates for an
Assistant or Associate Professor position in the non-tenure research
track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have
an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent
qualifications in research.
The ideal applicant will have extensive experience and
scientific expertise in novel viral vector discovery, development,
viral vector biology, gene therapy and genetic vaccine research.
Responsibilities
include studying molecular mechanisms of Adeno-associated virus
evolution and diversity, molecular interactions between vector and
endogenous viral genomes, molecular and cellular pathways of viral
vector transduction using both in vitro and in vivo models and
translational research of vector biology from mice to non-human
primates. The candidate should have a solid background in molecular and
cell biology and virology, a first-rate publication record, be an
active participant and contributor to the broad gene therapy research
community, and have a strong track-record/potential to develop an
active independent research program and to generate independent
extramural funding.

VICE CHAIR - Immunology Division
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine seeks candidates for a Full Professor position in the tenure track. The successful applicant will be accomplished in the area of Immunology. Responsibilities include leadership in the short- and long-range planning for logistics and research direction of the division as well as oversight of the recruitment, retention and evaluation of division faculty members. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in Education and Research.
Individuals working in any area of immunology are welcome to apply but preference will be given to those with a strong orientation towards the molecular basis of immune cell development and function. Applicants should have a strong record of publication and independent grant support. Teaching and mentoring of biomedical graduate and undergraduate medical students will also be an integral component of this position.
The successful candidate will play a central leadership role within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the role of Vice Chair of the Department's Immunology Division, as well as serving the larger research community in the School of Medicine. ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - Molecular Pathology Laboratory

applicant will have experience in the field of Molecular Pathology with
a focus on oncology, proteomics, pharmacogenetics, cytogenetics and/or

ACADEMIC NEUROPATHOLOGIST - Tenure Track

RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - Pulmonary Vascular Development
The Institute for Medicine and Engineering and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Pulmonary Vascular Development. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in Research.
The applicant will develop novel tissue engineering approaches to understand the molecular and architectural basis of lung development at the level of the extracellular matrix. A background in the transcriptional control of pulmonary vascular development would be advantageous. The successful candidate will also play a lead role in isolating vascular cells from hypertensive human lung tissue, and will supervise a morphology core at the IME, including tissue preservation, sectioning and electron microscopy. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active research program and to generate independent extramural funding. Faculty appointment will be in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

TRANSFUSION MEDICINE

The successful applicant will have had specialized training and experience in the field of Transfusion Medicine with a focus on Blood Banking and Apheresis. Successful applicants will be dynamic individuals with strong backgrounds in the scientific, clinical, and technical aspects of immunohematology and therapeutic apheresis.
