Advising (REACH)

Introduction:

The Resident Education and Advisory Committee at HUP (REACH) was established to provide a representative group of faculty members whose primary responsibility is resident and fellow mentoring and continual evaluation of the training program curriculum. The committee consists of the program director (Dr. Gordon Yu), co-directors (Drs. Irving Nachamkin and Nina Luning-Prak) and a representative faculty member from anatomic pathology (Dr. Leslie Litzky) and from laboratory medicine (Dr. Stephen Master). Members of the committee meet with each individual resident twice each year to provide feedback on individual performance and to solicit feedback on aspects of the training program which could be improved. In addition, they address mentoring with regards to potential career paths, fellowship options and related opportunities.

The REACH also engages in a continual assessment of the training program both as a whole and as individual clinical rotations. (Link to REACH of rotation protocol) All proposed changes in the curriculum are considered by this committee with input from members of the house staff and faculty.
