Anatomical Pathology


 

The 3-year training program in Anatomic Pathology consists of 25 months spent in core clinical rotations, including Surgical Pathology (12 months), Medical Pathology (Autopsy, 5 months), Cytopathology (4 months), Pediatric Pathology, Dermatopathology and Neuropathology, Forensic Pathology, and Bone/Soft Tissue Pathology (1 month each).  The remaining 11 months may be used for elective clinical rotations at HUP or affiliated institutions, including essential rotations in Laboratory Medicine (Hematopathology, Molecular Genetic Pathology).  At least five months of this elective time will be spent in clinical rotations, as required by the American Board of Pathology.  The remaining six months may be utilized for research or additional clinical rotations, depending upon the interests and goals of the individual trainee.
