Philadelphia

The University Scene:

The University of Pennsylvania has been an important part of Philadelphia since the school's founding in 1740. While at Penn, one can revisit the history of the nation while experiencing its future. Pennsylvania Hospital, America’s first, was founded here in Philadelphia, and within recent years has become part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The University’s main campus also reflects the dual nature of a thriving city steeped in history. One can walk past the historic "Quad," still used as an active dormitory, in route to one of the world's premiere medical complexes, right in West Philadelphia.

Quaint neighborhood shops and cafes provide "University City" with an eclectic atmosphere that is bustling year-round. Modern retail and entertainment complexes currently under construction throughout the area promise yet more excitement.
