Reference Lab

The reference lab is an AABB-accredited immunohematology reference lab. It is known as the problem-solving area in the blood bank. Special testing includes an investigation of patient diagnosis, age, and pregnancy, drug, and transfusion history. The reference lab has the capability to investigate both single and complex multiple alloantibodies, autoantibodies, hemolytic disease of the newborn, transfusion reactions, and ABO/Rh discrepancies. Methods of investigation include the use of enzyme techniques, adsorptions, elutions, and testing with rare antisera or cells.
